Effective communication, prompt consultation, and safe patient management
To enhance the effectiveness of emergency department services and strengthen patient safety at our institution, the Consultation Process Team continued its quality improvement efforts under the coordination of our Director of Quality within the General Directorate.
Process Evaluation Based on a Case Study
Using a sample case prepared in collaboration with the Emergency Department Attending Physician and the Emergency Department Coordinator, the patient’s admission, examination, radiological testing, consultation, and discharge processes were tracked from start to finish, and a case presentation was conducted.
Areas for Improvement
During the evaluations, the processes were reviewed with team participation, and areas for improvement were discussed.
Consultation Process Indicators
Dashboards tracking emergency department consultation times were evaluated, and the effectiveness of service processes was reviewed.
Effective consultation processes are key components of safe patient care.
In line with our institution’s commitment to continuous quality improvement, emergency department processes are regularly monitored and improvement efforts are ongoing.
