Egemed Department of Pulmonology: Breathe Easily, Live Healthily

Respiratory function, which is essential for a healthy life, can sometimes be compromised due to environmental factors, infections, allergens, or tobacco use. Symptoms such as shortness of breath, persistent cough, or wheezing may indicate lung diseases.

The Pulmonology Department atEgemed Hospitals conducts the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term follow-up of lower respiratory tract and lung diseases using current medical approaches. At our clinic, the underlying causes of respiratory problems that impair our patients’ quality of life are identified through detailed testing; scientific and personalized treatment plans are developed through multidisciplinary collaboration with the Dermatology, Cardiology, Otolaryngology, and Oncology departments.

Egemed Hospital: Pulmonology and Respiratory Testing

Featured Diagnostic and Treatment Services at Our Clinic

Our Pulmonology Department offers a wide range of services, from simple respiratory tract infections to advanced lung diseases. Our diagnostic tools, which emphasize the importance of early diagnosis in treatment success, include the following:

[ Early Diagnosis and Intervention via Bronchoscopy ]

In our endoscopy unit, the interior of the airways is examined directly using thin, flexible tubes (bronchoscopes) equipped with a camera at the tip. This method, which is used particularly in cases of suspected lung cancer, unexplained bloody sputum, and the removal of foreign objects from the airways, enables the early diagnosis of diseases and the collection of tissue samples (biopsies).

[ Sleep Disorders and Sleep Apnea Syndrome ]

Poor sleep carries serious risks, such as high blood pressure (hypertension), irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), stroke, and heart failure. If you experience loud snoring at night, sleep apnea, morning headaches, and a feeling of fatigue throughout the day, this may indicate a respiratory problem. In our department, we conduct sleep studies (polysomnography) to assess these risks.

[ Pulmonary Function and Allergy Tests ]

Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) are safely administered to measure the severity of breathing difficulties caused by lung conditions and to assess the impact of diseases such as asthma and COPD on lung capacity. Additionally, Skin Allergy Tests (Prick Tests) are conducted in collaboration with our Dermatology department to identify environmental factors that may cause chronic cough and asthma attacks, enabling us to initiate targeted treatment.

[ Management of Smoking-Related Lung Diseases ]

The use of tobacco and tobacco products poses a threat to public health and is a major contributing factor to a wide range of conditions, from lung cancer to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and emphysema. Furthermore, it increases the risk of asthma and pneumonia in children due to secondhand smoke. Our clinic conducts scientific programs focused on the early diagnosis, regular screening, and medical follow-up of organ damage caused by smoking.
