Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry & Approaches to Crisis Situations
Psychiatric Support and Emergency Crisis Management for Adolescents and Adults
Mental health issues and psychiatric needs manifest in completely different ways depending on the individual’s stage of life. While depression in an adolescent may manifest as outbursts of anger, depression in an adult may present as deep silence. At Egemed Hospitals, we adopt a medical approach that takes into account the unique developmental dynamics of each age group.

Support During Adolescence
Adolescence is a challenging transitional phase marked by the search for identity and biological and hormonal upheavals. Issues that arise during this period—such as test anxiety, communication breakdowns within the family, internet/gaming addictions, peer bullying, eating disorders (anorexia/bulimia), and thoughts of self-harm—are addressed through guidance provided by our specialist psychiatrist to both the young person and their family.
Adult Psychiatry
The stress of work life, burnout, marital and relationship issues, financial worries, the grieving process, and parenting challenges can take a toll on adults’ mental health. At our clinic, we provide pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions to help adults regain their daily functioning and life satisfaction.
When Should You Seek Professional Help During a Crisis?
Mental illnesses can, in some cases, escalate into severe crises that may endanger the patient’s own life or the safety of those around them. If the person:
• Is making plans to end their life (suicide) or is openly discussing it,
• Has completely lost touch with reality, is hearing voices that aren’t there, or is seeing visions (psychotic delusions/hallucinations),
• If they are experiencing severe episodes of anger and aggression that indicate a tendency to harm themselves or others,
These situations are considered "Psychiatric Emergencies. " In the presence of these symptoms, one should not wait for a scheduled appointment; the patient should not be left alone, and immediate specialized medical assistance (including hospitalization if necessary) should be sought.
