The patient’s recent travel history, occupational exposures, contact with pets, diet, and medications are evaluated as a whole. Starting from the premise that fever is not a disease but a “defense mechanism,” the source of the infection—whether viral, bacterial, or parasitic—is investigated. Culture and Antibiogram Analyses
Blood, urine, throat swabs, or wound fluid samples taken from the patient are inoculated onto specialized culture media to promote the growth of microorganisms (culture). Once the type of bacteria is identified, an antibiogram test is performed to determine, with millimeter precision, which antibiotic is most effective at eliminating that specific bacterium with the fewest side effects. This is the "gold standard" method in the treatment of infections.
Molecular Diagnostics and PCR Tests
It is used for the diagnosis of viruses (such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, COVID-19, and influenza) that take weeks to grow in culture or cannot be cultured in a laboratory setting. Using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology, the microorganism’s genetic material (DNA or RNA) is directly amplified, enabling a diagnosis with nearly 100% accuracy within hours.
Direct Microscopic Examination
In cases of suspected meningitis, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is stained using special staining methods (Gram stain, ARB) within minutes and examined under a microscope by specialists; similarly, in cases of suspected tuberculosis (TB), sputum is stained using these methods. This enables the immediate initiation of life-saving treatment in emergency situations.

Antibiotics have no therapeutic effect on viral infections such as the common cold or the flu.
