Support for Relationship, Family, and Adjustment Issues

Professional Support for Relationship, Family, and Adjustment Issues

An individual’s mental health cannot be considered in isolation from their social network and, above all, from the dynamics within the family. A crisis within the family system has a ripple effect on all its members. The Clinical Psychology Unit at Egemed Hospitals provides a neutral, professional setting to resolve communication breakdowns between spouses and family members and to establish healthy boundaries.

Couples Therapy and Communication Problems

A healthy relationship isn’t about never arguing; it’s about being able to manage arguments constructively. The goal of couples therapy is not to determine who is “right” or “wrong,” but to uncover the underlying emotional needs behind issues that undermine the foundation of the relationship—such as feelings of being misunderstood, a sense of worthlessness, jealousy, outbursts of anger, or infidelity (cheating). Couples are guided to communicate using “I” statements without blaming each other.

Family Therapy, Divorce, and Adjustment Processes

Sudden changes—such as the addition of a new member to the family, children’s adolescent crises, the diagnosis of a chronic illness, or a move—can create adjustment issues within the family. Especially during divorce or separation, parents are provided with educational counseling to help their children navigate this process with minimal psychological harm. With the understanding that “parenthood” continues throughout life even when households separate, healthy boundaries are established.
