When Should You Go to the Emergency Room?

Medical emergencies are conditions that arise suddenly and, if not treated promptly, can pose a life-threatening risk or lead to organ failure. At Egemed Hospital, we recommend that you seek immediate care at our emergency department or request assistance from our fully equipped ambulance network if you experience any of the following symptoms:

Critical Symptoms and Potential Emergencies

⚠️ Suspected Heart Attack

A feeling of tightness or pressure in the chest and severe pain radiating to the left arm.

⚠️ Airway Obstruction / Lung Problems

Sudden shortness of breath, a feeling of suffocation, and respiratory failure.

⚠️ Suspected Stroke

Speech difficulties, facial drooping, or sudden loss of strength on one side of the body.

⚠️ Neurological Emergencies / Shock

Confusion, fainting (syncope), or sudden loss of consciousness.

⚠️ Acute Abdominal Pain / Suspected Appendicitis

Severe and sudden abdominal pain.

⚠️ Trauma and Blood Loss

Uncontrollable severe bleeding and multiple injuries (traffic accidents, falls, etc.).

International Triage System: A Response Network Racing Against the Clock

Our emergency department uses the Triage System, which is recognized as a global standard. This system optimizes wait times to ensure that patients with genuine emergencies receive immediate treatment. You can review the details of our color-coded zones below:

Red Zone: Critical and Urgent Cases (Click to Open)

The red zone is a resuscitation area where the most critical patients are treated, operating on a zero-wait-time principle. It refers to a specially equipped unit where life-threatening patients receive intervention within seconds. In life-threatening conditions such as heart attack symptoms, cardiac arrest, severe respiratory distress, shock, brain hemorrhages, and multiple trauma, medical intervention is provided as urgently as possible.

Yellow Zone: Cases Requiring Observation and Further Investigation (Click to Open)

The yellow zone unit provides care for individuals with progressive illnesses that do not pose an immediate life-threatening risk but carry a risk of permanent physical damage. Severe kidney stone pain, asthma attacks, suspected fractures or dislocations, and severe infections are evaluated in this group. After their initial examination, patients are safely transferred to observation rooms and may be kept under specialist supervision for a short period.

Green Zone: Walk-in Care and Minor Emergencies (Click to Open)

The Green Zone is a unit where patients with stable overall health conditions receive care for minor injuries or illnesses. Conditions such as upper respiratory tract infections (flu, common cold), mild allergic reactions, or superficial skin cuts are treated here. Treatments in this area are scheduled according to the priority of urgency (triage guidelines).

Full Integration with a Seamless Diagnostic and Ambulance Network

The foundation of a successful emergency response lies in accurate and rapid diagnosis. The Egemed Emergency Department works in full integration with our hospital’s advanced Radiology (CT, X-ray, Ultrasound) and Central Laboratory units.

Furthermore, our emergency medical services do not begin at the hospital entrance. Egemed’s fleet of ambulances with red stripes, stationed in the Söke, Kuşadası, and Didim regions, maintains constant communication with our emergency department from the moment they arrive at the scene. Preparations in the emergency department are completed while the patient is still en route, and the relevant specialists are kept on standby in the emergency department.
