The key to proper treatment is accurately and quickly identifying the source of the illness. However, drawing blood from children, placing them in an MRI machine, or taking a radiological image requires much greater care and expertise than it does with adults. At Egemed Hospitals, we conduct our diagnostic processes using a “Child-Friendly Medical Approach” that minimizes pain and fear without harming the child’s psychological well-being.
Child-Focused Laboratory Analyses
Blood, urine, and stool samples are collected using fine-tipped disposable devices suitable for children’s delicate vascular structures and by experienced pediatric nurses. When necessary, local anesthetic creams are used to minimize discomfort during the procedure. From complete blood counts (CBC) to detailed allergy panels, and from hormone tests to infection markers (CRP, culture), all test results are processed in accordance with international quality standards and are quickly displayed on our physicians’ screens.
Radiation Safety: Imaging Based on the ALARA Principle
Children’s cells are more sensitive to radiation than those of adults. For this reason , the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle is strictly applied in radiological imaging at our hospital. Procedures such as X-rays or CT (Computed Tomography) scans are performed only when medically necessary, using low-dose protocols specifically designed for children. Our radiation-free ultrasound (USG) and MR (Magnetic Resonance) machines, capable of rapid imaging, are the safe methods of first choice in the diagnostic process.
Allergies, Spirometry, and Special Tests
For children with suspected asthma or allergies, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), which measure airway narrowing down to the millimeter, and specific IgE allergy panels administered via skin or blood are performed with great care. All diagnostic data obtained are combined with the child’s overall clinical picture to develop the most accurate and rational treatment plan.
