Newborn, Infant, Child, and Adolescent Checkups & Growth and Development Monitoring
Newborn, Infant, Child, and Adolescent Follow-ups (Well-Child Care)
Growth and development is a continuous process that begins in the womb and continues until the end of adolescence, and is directly influenced by genetic and environmental factors. The "Well-Child Follow-Up" program implemented at the Egemed Hospitals Pediatric Health and Diseases Clinic is the most important preventive healthcare measure, ensuring that children are evaluated regularly not only when they are sick but also when they are healthy.

Newborn and Infant Period (0–1 Years)
The first year of life is the period during which brain development and motor skills progress most rapidly. Your baby will undergo an initial examination within the first 24 hours after birth and will then be discharged.
- First 28 Days (Newborn): The risk of jaundice, hearing screening, heel prick blood tests (for phenylketonuria and hypothyroidism), and breastfeeding are closely monitored. Umbilical cord care is assessed.
- 1–12 Months: The baby undergoes regular checkups every month. Physical development is monitored by plotting head circumference, height, and weight measurements on standard growth charts. Neurological reflexes and motor skills, such as sitting without support and crawling, are assessed.
Early Childhood and School-Age Follow-Up Studies
These are the years when the rate of physical growth slows down compared to infancy, but cognitive, social, and language development take center stage.
- Language development (speech), socialization, teething, and toilet training are supported under medical supervision.
- Students are screened for undiagnosed vision and hearing impairments that could directly affect their academic performance and referred to the appropriate specialists (Ophthalmology, ENT).
- A healthy eating plan is developed by assessing loss of appetite or excessive weight gain (childhood obesity).
Adolescent Follow-Up
During adolescence, a time marked by turbulent physical, hormonal, and emotional changes, we monitor growth (assessment of bone age), hormonal balance, skin issues (acne), and menstrual cycles in girls. With the utmost respect for privacy, we answer the adolescent’s questions about their own body using scientific language.
