The Birth Process and Methods: A Safe Moment of Reunion at Egemed
Childbirth is a unique journey of physical and emotional transformation in every woman’s life. At the Egemed Hospitals Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic, we view this special moment not merely as a medical procedure, but as the birth of a family and a mother’s discovery of her own strength.
Our goal is to surround you with the full safety net of modern medicine while respecting the natural flow of the birthing process, and to crown the moment you welcome your baby with peace, confidence, and health.

Birthing Methods and Our Medical Approach
Every pregnancy is as unique as a fingerprint. For this reason, the method of delivery is determined based on medical data, taking into account the expectant mother’s physical condition, the baby’s weight, the baby’s position, and the overall course of the pregnancy.
Vaginal (Natural) Birth and Epidural (Pain-Free Birth)
Unless there is a medical contraindication, we support vaginal delivery, which is the most natural method for the health of both mother and baby. To manage the pain of contractions during labor, we successfully administer epidural analgesia (pain-free delivery / Princess Birth) under the supervision of our anesthesiologists. This allows the expectant mother to feel the contractions and actively participate in the delivery process without experiencing pain.
Cesarean Delivery: The Safety Net
It is a life-saving surgical procedure performed in cases of breech presentation, large babies, placental (umbilical cord) abnormalities, maternal systemic diseases, or emergencies that arise during labor. At our clinic, cesarean sections are typically performed under spinal or epidural anesthesia without putting the mother to sleep, allowing her to remain awake and hear her baby’s first cry.
PVDC (Post-Cesarean Vaginal Delivery)
This refers to the likelihood that women who have previously given birth via cesarean section will be able to have a vaginal birth in their next pregnancy. At our clinic, after thoroughly assessing the clinical suitability of both the mother and the baby, the SSVD process can be carefully managed under conditions that include close medical monitoring (continuous monitoring) and the availability of an emergency surgical team.
Mother- and Baby-Friendly Hospital Approach
At Egemed Hospitals, we don’t just bring babies into the world—we welcome their first moments with love and care. Guided by scientific research, our “Mother-Baby Friendly” approaches include the following:
Skin-to-Skin Contact
As soon as the baby is born, unless there is a medical contraindication, the baby is placed directly on your chest without being cleaned. This initial skin-to-skin contact helps regulate the baby’s body temperature, fosters a sense of security, and instantly establishes the mother-baby bond.
Late Umbilical Cord Clamping
The umbilical cord, which connects your baby to life, is not cut immediately after birth. Instead, we wait for the cord to stop pulsating to ensure that the rich blood from the placenta is fully transferred to the baby. This approach replenishes the newborn’s iron stores, significantly reducing the risk of anemia during the first few months of life.
The Golden Hour and Breastfeeding
The first hour after birth is known as the "Golden Hour." During this period, when the baby’s reflexes are at their peak, the goal is to initiate the first breastfeeding session with the support of our expert midwives and nurses.
Just in Case: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Support
Childbirth, by its very nature, is always full of surprises. In the event that your baby is born prematurely or requires special care due to respiratory distress after birth, our fully equipped Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and our expert pediatricians are on standby 24/7, ready to intervene without delay. The greatest peace of mind felt by families who choose our hospital stems from this strong medical assurance.
